Our values
At Silvery Tweed, our customers are our partners. We continually research customer and market trends to anticipate future demand and improve the service we deliver.
We remain a family business at heart. Our success is built on trust, flexibility, responsiveness and an eagerness to listen to what our customers want, then to deliver it, adding value along the way.
Additionally, we are very aware of our position within our local community. Sourcing the majority of our grains from farms and merchants within a 40-mile radius of Berwick, we’re able to champion local suppliers and promote produce grown in the region. This commitment to the development and economy of the local area can also be seen in our support for local employment, events and families.
Our history
We’re proud to be able to say that Silvery Tweed’s heritage stretches back over 175 years, and has remained family-owned throughout its lifespan. Established by H. O. Short in 1843 near the small village of Belford in rural Northumberland, in the present day the business is located on the Tweedside Trading Estate in coastal Berwick-upon-Tweed and continues to move from strength to strength.
