Supporting our local communities

For us, a significant part of being a responsible business is having a positive impact on our local communities, economy and society.

We are strong supporters of local community activities, ranging from educational initiatives to sporting ones, with a focus on extending the skills and values we have within the business into the wider community.

Grassroots football, rugby and cricket feature heavily in this support, as we believe it is important for young people to learn important skills, such as teamwork, as well as being exposed to the benefits of a healthy lifestyle. Community events also play a significant role.

We are keen to promote the development of basic cookery skills and food knowledge, as well as nurturing and inspiring the next generation of food professionals. This was the inspiration behind our support for a kitchen makeover at Berwick Middle School as part of our 175th-anniversary celebrations.

We believe it is also our responsibility as a local food processing business to reinforce Berwick’s strong industrial connection with the food and drink sector and highlight potential career paths to young people in the area.

We do this through apprenticeships and other initiatives that we hope will show the opportunities that food industry and manufacturing careers offer.
