Congratulations to new engineer, Aaron!
We are delighted to congratulate Aaron Jeffery on completing his apprenticeship and starting his role as an electrical engineer at Silvery Tweed Cereals.
Joining Silvery Tweed in 2019, Aaron worked as a Standard Operative in production before starting his engineering apprenticeship in 2021.The three-year course consisted of one day a week in college at TDR Training in Newcastle, with the rest of the time working practically across our production sites in Berwick-upon-Tweed. The apprenticeship included two six-week theoretical courses, as well as both practical and theory assessments. Upon his successful assessments in mid-February this year, he became a qualified electrical engineer.
However, Aaron did not want his learning journey to end there, and we are more than happy to support him through his Higher National Certificate (HNC) in electrical engineering for the next two years. This will see Aaron back in college for one day a week, getting a deeper understanding of the theory behind electrical engineering, while continuing his role in our engineering department.
Aaron says “I always wanted to be an electrical engineer, even from school, so this is the ideal path for me. I am excited to continue my learning and hone my skills to be the best I can be.
“I am very grateful to Silvery Tweed for offering me these amazing opportunities, and learning on the job has been a fantastic way to get practical experience while obtaining my qualifications.”
Bob Gladstone, managing director, adds “Aaron is a wonderfully enthusiastic asset to the team. He has worked hard and proven to have a great talent within electrical engineering. It is a pleasure to see him complete this important step in his further education and we are excited to see his continued development as he undertakes his HNC.”
We’re very proud of our apprenticeship programme and the impact our apprentices can have on the business. We also find it incredibly rewarding to see them develop and grow as they progress. Aaron is a testament to the programme and has a bright future ahead of him.
