Silvery Tweed strengthens sector expertise with new Sales Manager appointment

24 Feb 2017

Berwick upon Tweed based cereal processor Silvery Tweed Cereals has appointed a new Sales Manager, who will support the business’s sales team in seeking new markets for its extensive product portfolio within the UK, as well as piloting the business’s growing focus on export.

Bringing with him more than 35 years’ industry experience, Andy Smith joins the Silvery Tweed team after several years with many of the UK’s major blue-chip food manufacturing organisations. With previous experience in both sales and manufacture with a number of key players in the UK food manufacture industry, Andy’s extensive knowledge of the food ingredients sector will be vital to his new position at Silvery Tweed as he helps to maintain and grow its significant role in the UK food manufacturing sector as well as seek new openings in the export market.

Andy’s experience in account management and client relations will be an additional benefit for the business. In his role as Sales Manager he will also be working closely with the business’s product development team to develop new concepts for customers and bring them to market.

Andy says: “The needs of the food manufacturing sector are forever changing, as new products are developed and consumer tastes come and go. Silvery Tweed’s culture of adaptability means we can respond quickly and effectively to the fluctuating needs of the market, as well as developing products and services to suit new demographics. It’s great to have the opportunity to lead change at a business that’s so responsive to it.”

Silvery Tweed Cereals manufactures a wide variety of cereal inclusions, including coated cereals and flakes, which are supplied to many of the UK’s top food brands. With a workforce of over 80 employees, the company cleans and processes grain from growers who are mostly based in the Borders area within a 40-mile radius of Berwick.
