We have partnered with a Netherlands grain specialist to bring innovative puffed grain technology to UK food manufacturers. The Presco® product range from Unicorn Grain Specialties is an extensive collection of grains, expanded using a unique process that offers flexible expansion levels and allows for easy absorption of coatings and flavours. It is now available exclusively in the UK through Silvery Tweed Cereals. Products include part pre-cooked grains for use in bread, ready-to-use bread mixes or as loaf decoration. The ability to puff grains to specified levels also provides scope for creativity in product development and create a wide range of visuals and textures for breakfast cereals, snack, cereal and energy bars. Sales director Michael Mole says, “The ever-present consumer quest for health and nutrition, the growth in ‘free-from’ products and fluctuating raw material prices are encouraging UK manufacturers to explore new development areas around cereal innovations, wholegrains and ancient grains. The Presco product range provides them with a huge amount of flexibility and choice. “The range is based on wheat, maize, rye, barley and rice, but works equally well with other grains, including malted cereals, brown rice, durum wheat and millet, as well as ancient grains such as quinoa and spelt. “The availability of these products opens up opportunities to create new, healthy and convenient bakery, snack and cereal products. It also enables manufacturers to add texture or visual appeal to an existing product range.” for more information about the Presco products, contact us on 01289 307419.
